Family Sundays at the Detroit Institute of Arts

A promising young college graduate with significant work experience already under his belt, Andrew Whiteman recently received a bachelor of arts in biology and religion from Oberlin College. A Michigan native, Andrew Whiteman provided volunteer assistance to the Detroit Institute of Arts, which stood to gain additional funding on a summer 2012 ballot initiative. Today, the Detroit Institute of Arts organizes a diverse array of programming, including its Family Sundays events.

Held every Sunday throughout the year, Family Sundays allow families to come together and relax after a long week. Each week features a different performer or exhibition, including an upcoming artist demonstration from choreographer Joanna McNamara. Family Sundays also include interactive art-making workshops and guest appearances from shadow artists, storytellers and authors, and puppeteers.
